Welcome to Mrs. Lambert's District 129 Website

Where my inspiration comes from . . .

Make of your life a gift. Remember always, you are the gift!

Be a gift to everyone who enters your life, and to everyone whose life you enter. Be careful not to enter another's life if you cannot be a gift.

(You can always be a gift, because you always are the gift -- yet sometimes you don't let yourself know that.)

When someone enters your life unexpectedly, look for the gift that person has come to receive from you.

Neale Donald Walsch

It is not the basic nature of human beings to be horrible. It is the basic nature of human beings to be loving. When humans are being horrible, it is because of something they believe. Ask them, therefore -- even in the midst of the horror -- ask them:

What hurts you so much that you feel you have to hurt me to heal it?

Neale Donald Walsch

The student of mastery is one who always agrees with the experience she is having, even if that experience does not "appear" favorable, because the student of mastery knows that she must have intended it at some level. That "knowing" is what makes it possible for one person to be utterly peaceful and "together" during circumstances that another would find very stressful.

Neale Donald Walsch

Keep your thoughts positive because your thoughts become your words.
Keep your words positive because your words become your behaviors.
Keep your behaviors positive because your behaviors become your habits.
Keep your habits positive because your habits become your values.
Keep your values positive because your values become your destiny.

Mahatma Gandhi (1869–1948)

Be a living, breathing example of the Highest Truth that resides within you.
Speak humbly of yourself, lest someone mistake your Highest Truth for a boast.
Speak softly, lest someone think you are merely calling for attention.
Speak gently, that all might know of Love.
Speak openly, lest anyone think you have something to hide.

Neale Donald Walsch

There are no victims in the universe, only creators.

Neale Donald Walsch

You will be responsible for informing your parent(s)/guardian(s) and acquiring the needed supplies.

  • pencils
  • pens (blue or black ink)
  • paper (looseleaf)
  • 1 spiral notebook (to be left in class)
  • 1 folder

Expectations:

Mrs. Lambert holds all students to high standards :  positive behavior, quality effort, and respect are expected at all times.  Expectations are as follows:

  1. Be in class and quiet, ready to work before the bell rings.
  2. Bring all materials to class, including binder, pen/pencil, paper, silent reading book, and planner.
  3. Treat others with respect at all times.
  4. During teacher/student groups, allow groups to work without interruption.

In addition, please be aware of the school rules.  Detailed explanations can be found in the front section of your student planner.

Assessment of Student Learning for Mrs. Lambert’s class:

Mrs. Lambert’s grading scale is as follows

  • 90-100%                         A
  • 80-89%                            B
  • 70-79%                            C
  • 60-69%                           D
  • 59% and below               F

Updated grades will be reported via periodic grade reports.

When mid-quarter grades and report cards are sent home, all students will receive two scores for each academic subject:  an effort grade/performance code (1-5) and a letter grade (A – F).   In Mrs. Lambert's class, effort grades are 100% effort.  Letter grades are comprised of 80% graded work/assessment and 20% effort.  This may change mid-year.

Effort (20% of final grade; 100% of “Performance” grade):

District 129 has an effort grade already in place, which reflects student effort in each of his/her classes.  It is in the section of the report card labeled: “performance code.”  A grade of 1 is the highest grade possible.  A grade of 5 is thus the lowest possible grade.  Students in Mrs. Lambert’s social studies class will be assigned effort grades on a percent-of-possible-points basis

  • 90-100%                          1
  • 80-89%                            2
  • 70-79%                            3
  • 60-69%                           4
  • 59% and below               5

Students will earn effort points in the following ways:  turning in work on time, turning in complete

work, turning in neat and readable work, turning in work completed as a whole class,

participation, and following directions.  Some assignments may be taken strictly as effort grades.

Please note that the effort grade also comprises 20% of each final quarter grade.

Graded Work/Assessments (80% of final grade):

Student work will be graded for mastery of the skill being taught.   All assignments must be submitted for a grade.  It is never an option to not do your work.

Students will earn assessment points in the following ways:  independent assignments, projects, tests,               quizzes, and classroom activities.

Assignment Completion:

No missing work that correlates to a given chapter or unit will be accepted after students have been quizzed or tested on that topic.  In addition, if students choose to delay turning in an assignment on its original due date, they will receive no effort points for that assignment, thus decreasing their final grade in the subject area.  As mentioned above, some homework will be considered assessment work (earning an assessment grade and an effort grade) while other homework will be considered 100% effort.  Assignments deemed as effort grades will not be accepted after the original due date.
