ORGANIZATIONAL GUIDELINES
To involve parents and other community members to facilitate a public understanding of the District’s comprehensive plan known as Vision 129 and all components associated with that plan.
COUNCIL COMPOSITION:
Each District School shall be represented by one parent.
Each school Representative must have a student in the school that he/she represents.
REPRESENTATIVE
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must possess a spirit of cooperation with school Principal.
- Must communicate frequently with school Principal and school parent organization and, therefore, school community.
- Must be visible at school he/she is representing.
- Must be involved in the school so that parents feel comfortable approaching him/her.
- Must be willing to handle all situations and/or issues that may be brought to his/her attention.
APPOINTMENT:
Each Representative shall be appointed by the school’s Principal, after receiving feedback from the school's parent representatives. The Principal will ask for a slate of two to three potential candidates from the current SCAC Representative and the parent group President.
GOALS:
- Allow public participation in the West Aurora school system.
- Provide forum for discussion and decision-making
between public and District staff.
- Establish effective two-way communication between District office and school system.
- Establish effective two-way communication between District office and school system.
- Create positive human relations contacts among community, students and parents.
- Establish and maintain a District image that reflects the West Aurora “Tradition of Excellence”.
